“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
In a world bombarded with the filtered happiness of social media, the darker issues of mental health are often treated as a taboo.
We are urged to switch to organic, take care of our bodies, our family, our environment but rarely do we take the time to take a breath and truly recharge from within. The mind is linked more closely to overall heath than we’d like to believe.
Today we celebrate World Mental Health Awareness Day. Take a few minutes to ask yourself how you’re really feeling. Call a friend, turn to a colleague and show genuine support.
“The mentally ill frighten and embarrass us. And so we marginalize the people who most need our acceptance. What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, more unashamed conversation.” ― Glenn Close
“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.” – Robin Williams
“Anxiety, depression and panic attacks are not signs of weakness. They are signs of trying to remain strong for way too long.” – Deepika Padukone
“Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say “My heart is broken.” – C.S. Lewis
